Community service

Court-ordered community service is accepted on an individual basis.

Objective:
To provide a place of work to satisfy the requirements of individuals who have been court ordered to perform community service.

Age Requirement:
Community Service Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Offenses and Hours Assigned:
Traffic violations and minor misdemeanor offenses will be accepted at the organization’s discretion. No animal cruelty cases, or any types of felonies will be accepted.

Responsibilities:
Participants in the Court Ordered Community Service program are not allowed to directly handle animals. Primary responsibilities of community service volunteers include providing janitorial services (i.e. sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, washing laundry, cleaning outside grounds, etc.). Much of the work is physical labor and may include heavy lifting.

  • Pants: Wear long pants that provide full leg coverage for protection. Avoid shorts, skirts, or ripped/torn pants. Jeans, khakis, or work pants are good choices.
  • Shoes: Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. Athletic shoes, work boots, or other sturdy footwear are acceptable. Avoid sandals, flip-flops, or any open-toe or open-heel shoes.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Clothing should be clean, modest, and free of excessive wear.
  • Avoid overly baggy or excessively tight clothing.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather and the nature of the work.
