Circuit Court Judges named in DBusiness Top Circuit Court Judges in Metro Detroit

Judge Richard L. Caretti has again been listed as one of Metro Detroit’s Top Circuit Court Judges in DBusiness magazine’s March/April 2025 publication. Including this nomination, Judge Caretti has appeared in the magazine’s Top Circuit Court Judges list 8 of the last 9 years.
Judge Caretti was appointed to the 16th Judicial Circuit Court bench in 2002 and has since been re-elected to four additional six-year terms. He previously served as the Chief Judge and currently serves as the presiding Judge of the Civil/Criminal division of the Court. In 2015 he was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to serve as a Business Court Judge and continues in that role, having just been re-appointed to a term effective April 1, 2025.
“I am honored and humbled to be listed by DBusiness with such esteemed colleagues. It is also an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Macomb County. I remain committed to provide fair, impartial and timely justice to all, even in these unprecedented and difficult times.” - Honorable Richard L. Caretti.
This year, Judge Caretti is joined by Judges Julie Gatti, Rachel Rancilio, Michael E. Servitto, Joseph Toia, Kathryn A. Viviano, and Tracey A. Yokich. While this is the first appearance on the list for Judges Rancilio, Servitto, and Yokich, Judges Gatti, Toia, and Viviano have previously been nominated. This is Judge Gatti’s third consecutive nomination. Judge Toia was nominated in 2023, and Judge Viviano was nominated in 2016 and 2018.
DBusiness Magazine conducts a survey each summer asking attorneys to vote for the top judges in the Metro Detroit area. The judges named on the list received a high number of votes from peers and attorneys.
