Macomb County Sheriff’s Office becomes entering agency for Personal Protection Orders

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham is excited to announce that the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) will become the sole entering agency for Personal Protection Orders (PPOs) for the entire County.

“The safety of the residents of Macomb County is something I have dedicated my professional life to ensuring,” stated Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. “My office is committed to working hand-in-hand with the Clerk’s Office to ensure this task is handled professionally and expeditiously, meeting the standards set forth in Michigan statute.”

Initially, the Michigan State Police were the entering agency for PPOs. However, this responsibility was then placed with local law enforcement agencies. The Macomb County Clerk’s Office distributed the PPOs based on jurisdiction. Unfortunately, issues arose surrounding jurisdiction and delays occurred.

Per the governing statue, the guidelines for entrance are “immediate.” As such, to comply with the law and meet this standard, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is hiring a records clerk for this specific task, thus reinforcing the commitment to upholding this standard.
