Fatal incident update

Mount Clemens, MI – Yesterday, December 10, 2023, at approximately 12:40PM, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) dispatched Deputies to the area of Van Dyke Road and West Road in Washington Township for an unknown incident. Upon arrival Deputies noted 3 highly damaged vehicles and debris all over the roadway. 

 

MCSO investigation revealed that a white Ford Bronco was traveling southbound on Van Dyke Road when the driver crossed the centerline, hitting a silver Toyota Prius head on. A third vehicle, a grey Chrysler 200, was traveling behind the Prius and hit the Prius from behind. 

 

Deputies immediately attempted to render aid and quickly shut down Van Dyke at West Road in both directions. DTE was also notified as the Bronco struck a utility pole resulting in downed live wires. 

 

Tragically this incident resulted in two fatalities. The lone occupant of the Ford Bronco, a male, age 58, from Oakland Township was pronounced deceased at Henry Ford Hospital. Additionally, the passenger of the Prius, a male, age 38, from Livonia, was pronounced deceased at Troy Beaumont Hospital. The driver of the Prius and the driver of the Chrysler 200 reported non-life-threatening injuries. 

 

“Our sincere condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones in the tragic incident,” stated Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. “We are extremely thankful for the outstanding collaborative efforts of the MCSO, Washington Fire & EMS, Bruce Township and Shelby Township Fire Departments.”
