Ten local businesses receive $1,000 grants through Shop Local Macomb campaign

Ten local businesses have been announced as recipients of $1,000 grants from the Shop Local Macomb campaign. The initiative, which is organized by the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development, encourages shoppers to give business to independently owned and operated establishments during the holiday season for the chance to win one of 10 $150 gift cards provided by First State Bank and a grant for the business they supported. In all, there were more than 700 entries. A drawing was held Monday, December 4 with organizers selecting gift card winners and grant recipients. Winning businesses include:

 

  • New DJ Shop, Warren
  • The Conservatory, Clinton Township
  • Starr Craft Brewery, Richmond
  • Liv a Little at Home, New Haven
  • Clementine's Pastries, Mount Clemens
  • Birch & Arrow, Harrison Township
  • Soenen's Market, Harrison Township
  • Filipo Marc Winery, Clinton Township
  • Champagne Chocolates, Mount Clemens
  • Charlie and the Treasure Factory, Clinton Township



“I’m so proud to once again host the Shop Local Macomb contest, and to recognize these incredible Macomb County businesses with grants,” said Vicky Rowinski, director of MCPED. “Our community really came together to support small retailers for this initiative, and I’m hopeful that they will continue to shop local for the rest of the holiday season.”



Shop Local Macomb is coordinated by the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development with support from area chambers, including Connect Macomb, the Macomb County Chamber, the Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber, the Northern Macomb Regional Chamber and the Anchor Bay Chamber.
